Slither with the stars of Grove Farm
We had a fantastic morning searching for slow worms on Grove Farm on our slow worm safari with John from London Amphibian & Reptile Group (LARG). It was great to have so many new faces & lots of young reptile lovers join us as we did our regular slow worm survey. We found three pregnant females and one juvenile. This is less than usual but it was a bit warm today. We also found some slow worm skin under one mat.
There were plenty of other plants & animals to keep us interested with ants, spiders (including the wasp spider you can see in the photo below), green woodpeckers and a red kite. Thanks to everyone who joined & we hope to see you at future events.
If anyone would like to become a regular surveyor of slow worms, let us know. Send us an email at friendsofgrovefarm@gmail.com. We could always do with support & we will continue to survey our slow worms every two weeks until their hibernation period in autumn.
