Nature Walk with John Wells - August 25

31 Aug 2025

Sun, laughs & nature discoveries at Grove Farm 🌿☀️

🌿 The weekend couldn’t have been better for our group picnic at Grove Farm Local Nature Reserve — the sun made a perfect appearance and everyone enjoyed food, laughter and good company! 🌞🧺

Afterwards, we joined local naturalist John Wells for a fascinating nature walk. On just one oak tree, John showed us marble, knopper, and spangle galls — tiny but brilliant reminders of nature’s complexity. He also explained how climate change is introducing new challenges for our trees, like the spread of horse-chestnut leaf miner (whose pupae now survive milder winters). Nature, however, continues to rebalance with parasitic wasps targeting the pupae! 🐝

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, and especially to John for sharing his knowledge so passionately.
