🌞 A Beautiful Saturday for Conservation! 🌳
The sun was shining as our fantastic group of 10 volunteers got to work improving sightlines and stopping scrub from taking over our main meadow. 🌿 Under the guidance of Mike, we trimmed, chopped and lopped 20 meters of hedge, creating a neat dead hedge with all the left over material! After lunch, a few of us stayed back to finish raking up the grass cuttings on freshly mowed patches of the meadow and spotted our first Brown Hairstreak. A Brown Hairstreak is listed as vulnerable.
Huge thanks to our amazing volunteers – Olena, Giorgio, Bharti, Portia, and our awesome Good Gym regulars: Kash, Sevan, Christos & Penny! 🙌 Your hard work truly made a difference.
📅 Next Conservation Morning:
🗓️ 19 October (starting a bit earlier)
⏰ Join us anytime between 10 AM - 1 PM
And if you stay until the end, we’ll head to the Brokengate Café for a well-deserved lunch! 🥪
