🌳Conservation Day Highlights at Grove Farm! 🌳
At our last conservation day volunteers from Friends of Grove Farm, Portia Aaron and Sue were joined and five Goodgym Ealing: Josh, Maxime, Sevan, Steph and Kash to help clear a new area of Grove Farm. As we went to our project location (continuing the creation of paths in Grove Farm, we found two employees of Greener Ealing (Ealing Council's contractors) passing through Grove Farm, clearing existing paths and creating new ones. As a result, in front of us in just a couple of minutes they cleared the task that we had ear marked for the day and recommended we take the day off and enjoy the sun. undeterred we moved onto plan B. Creating a new are for storing mulch in Grove Farm. Mulch is used around our young trees on site to protect their roots from searing heat, break down as a food source for animals and plants and finally ensure water is retained in the ground for longer.

This wasn’t the only task for the day however, as we had spotted an abandoned moped in the field, which Josh, Sevan and Kash, rushed to retrieve moped and place it in a clear space ready for the council to pick it up. This along with bags of rubbish and mattresses scout the field. In the end we cleared approximately 20 untaggable items and 5 rubbish bags.
