🌿 Winter Woodland at Grove Farm: Bramble Clearing for Spring Blooms 🌼

A big thank-you to our amazing volunteers from Friends Of Grove Farm regulars Sue, Fred and Livio as well as Good Gymers

Steph, Sevan, Kash, Ash, Thaiza, James and Richard who came together for our January conservation session at Grove Farm! 🌳💪

After a week of grey skies, the sun finally broke through just in time for us to clear brambles from the woodland slope around the anemone trail — making space for spring life to return. Mushrooms dotted around the woodland and the sound of strimmers echoed through the calm morning air as our team got to work! 🍂🔪

Why all the effort?

🌼 Brambles, if left unchecked, can take over the woodland floor and block sunlight

🌼 Clearing them helps our beautiful wood anemones return in March and April

🌼 These delicate white flowers are ancient woodland indicators — and every bit of care counts!

This year’s brambles were much easier to manage. With the slope now cleared, we’re optimistic for a stunning spring carpet of white blooms again soon! 🌸

Join our next session in February to support Grove Farm’s biodiversity and enjoy a peaceful forest-bathing morning in Greenford. 🌿
