Dam Good Deeds 🦫🌿
On a muddy Saturday morning, members of Friends of Grove Farm and Goodgym Ealing gathered deep in Grove Farm’s woodland to answer a call for help — “Who wants to be a beaver today?” 🪵💦
Channeling their inner eco-engineers, the team reinforced Grove Farm’s leaky dams to slow a stream’s flow, filter the water before it enters the wider network and prevent winter path flooding — all while supporting the woodland’s natural balance. Logs big and small were hauled, balanced, and wedged into place with true beaver spirit! 🦫💪
Once the dam work was done, the group turned their attention to clearing brambles along the Wood Anemone Walk, preparing the area for its spectacular spring bloom. 🌸 Good news — a few early wood anemones are already peeking through! Make sure to join our guided walks this March and April to see them in full flower. 🌼
Friends of Grove Farm wrapped up by removing 41 bags of rubbish (38 from a recent fly-tip) — a huge win for keeping our woodland clean and healthy. 🗑️👏
Big thanks to Sue and Fred for their tireless efforts, and to our Ealing GoodGymers: Ash, Melissa, Thaiza, Kash, Devi, Richard, Harvey, Steph, and Sevan for their muddy hard work and community spirit. 🌳❤️
