Of Black Poplars and Manholes 🌳🕳️
On the last weekend before Christmas, we continued our search deep within Grove Farm’s ancient woodlands for the lost manhole that will help us clear a blockage causing water to flood our paths every winter.
Five GoodGymers – Sevan, Kash, Steph, James and Kamil – joined Sue and Fred from Friends of Grove Farm to hunt for the manhole cover using a metal detector. Sadly, the mission failed, and all that turned up was more rubbish, from wheels to netball stands found by Steph and Kash.
While the search went on, the rest of the team focused on clearing brambles to make space for a new tree: a black poplar 🌳
Fingers crossed this young tree will thrive and become a much-loved feature of Grove Farm for years to come.
